Building A Reusable Cup Borrowing Network in Banff

In the pursuit of significant waste reduction and the advancement of destination sustainability, this initiative is supported by the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley, Town of Banff, Banff & Lake Louise Hospitality Association, Banff & Lake Louise Tourism and Muuse.

This initiative will set the stage in Canada and beyond for how a circular economy of reusable cups can be effective in a visitor economy.

How It Works For Vendors

Step 1 - Vendors in Banff can declare their interest in participating by filling out the form below.

Step 2 - Once you've been accepted into the program, Muuse will deliver your required inventory, provide training, signage and develop your profile page to push out through social media.

Step 3 - When a customer requests a cup, simply show them the QR, they scan the cup to borrow without having to download any app!

Step 4 - The customer shows staff the confirmation page and the barista serves the beverage in the scanned cup.

Step 5 - Customers have up to 30 days to return to any participating location.

Step 6 - Customers scan the cup, and the unique Return QR located at each vendor to register the return.

Step 7 - Vendors wash in a high heat commercial dishwasher, according to public health and Muuse standards to prevent cross contamination and ensure a safe experience for customers and staff.

Step 8 - Vendors serve the cup again!
